CSM Bucharest managed to reach the Final Four tournament again with the women's handball team after an absence of eight years, but behind the sports route, the financial anomalies on the City Hall club's payroll remain.

The Gazette obtained the full list of the net salaries collected by the heads of the sports departments, and some of the figures are absolutely unusual.

The biggest surprise comes from the income that Aurelia Brădeanu receives, recruited at the end of last year as team manager of the handball girls, in place of the resignation of Cristina Vărzaru. Former international, world vice-champion in 2005 at St. Petersburg under the baton of Gheorghe Tadici, has now managed to collect monthly about 14% of the entire salary budget of the management staff from the CSM departments!

According to the document in the possession of GSP, Aurelia Brădeanu receives monthly 35,700 lei, that is approximately 7,000 euros. His predecessor, Cristina Vărzaru, had about 5,000 euros, according to GSP sources.

In total, CSM Bucharest pays monthly 256,180 lei salaries for 24 people in charge of 18 sections. That is a little over 50,000 euros. In the meantime, however, swimming and tennis will disappear following the reorganization of the club in order to manage a reduced budget compared to 2025.

The top three in this salary chapter are:

• 1) Aurelia Brădeanu (women's handball team manager) – 35,700 RON

• 2) Andrei Dinu (men's handball team manager) – 19,998 RON

• 3) Constantin Stirbu (technical director of women's volleyball) – 19,000 RON

The first two are newly appointed, directly employed with the highest salaries in the CSM at the staff level in the departments.

Beyond this list, as another landmark, the president of the club, Iulian Pîslaru, receives a net salary of 11,000 lei, plus a monthly allowance of about 5,000 lei.

The last amount suddenly increased tenfold at the end of last year, following a Decision of the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest, which approved the said amendment hidden among the new financial rules validated at the CSM. It was a collection of technical provisions that “swallowed” among the ranks, including the explosion of the allowances of the CA members from the club of the Capital City Hall.

Aurelia Brădeanu arrived from Corona, where she was working for 4,000 euros, thus obtaining almost double her salary in Bucharest! She left the Brașov City Hall club, dissatisfied, among other things, with the fact that another former handball player, Gabriel Borodi, was appointed as her superior, which significantly deprived her of the decision-making space and influence.

Now, at CSM Bucharest, Brădeanu's salary is close to the average of female players' contracts. The top in the locker room is undoubtedly led by Omoregie and Mette Hansen, each with around 18,000 euros per month. On the other hand, Brădeanu is not far from the coach Bojana Popovic: 10,000 euros/month!

Blood negotiation, relocation with the family from Brașov

GSP sources indicate that, in addition, CSM Bucharest also pays Brădeanu around 1,000 euros for the monthly rent in the capital.

In fact, Brădeanu would have negotiated bloodily with the CSM precisely in view of the fact that the deployment from Brașov involved moving to Bucharest with his family, i.e. the husband and two of the children, a girl and a boy. Only Brădeanu's third child stayed at St. Gheorghe, where he plays football at the Sepsi Academy.

Also, Brădeanu would have caught those from CSM Bucharest red-handed, in a delicate moment after Vărzaru's departure. The club was urgently looking for an impactful name at the level of team manager, the solutions were very limited for various reasons, so that Brădeanu would have found fertile ground to obtain an extremely generous contract, as no one had before in that position and with the related package of responsibilities.

I could not confirm or discuss figures, because I do not have them at my disposal now, but I remember from the negotiations that the final amount also includes the money for rent agreed with Mika Brădeanu. After the departure of Cristina Vărzaru, the club needed a very competent man for the position of team manager, and Brădeanu was the happy solution chosen. However, the payroll from CSM Bucharest indicates that Răzvan Socolovici is also paid as team manager, whose qualification promoted in the public space was that of operational manager! In fact, the attributions of the Socolovici – Brădeanu couple largely overlap, both dealing, among other things, with contracts and transfers.

But CSM brought Brădeanu also for reasons of notoriety in the world of handball, in the idea that she can open doors faster than Socolovici, a completely anonymous character in the sport of the semi-circle at the European level.

Well, Brădeanu would have played a decisive role in convincing Iulia Dumanska to sign with CSM Bucharest. The goalkeeper of the women's national team recently reached an agreement with the group from the Capital, which has already announced that the athlete with Ukrainian origins will perform under the command of Bojana Popovic from next season.

Also, Brădeanu would have contributed decisively to the bringing of the Swedes Jenny Carlson and Matilda Forsberg, also already qualified from the next championship.

Aurelia Brădeanu was disturbed in the dialogue with GSP by the fact that her salary is becoming the subject of public attention: “What does how much I earn have to do with the moment of a performance expected for eight years? Are we now talking about salaries instead of discussing the success of this team? It would be nice to be by each other's side, to unite and join hands to help each other, not to destroy!”.

He added: “We watched others for eight years play in the Final Four, where we were supposed to be, and when we finally get there, we start debates about salaries? I have nothing to comment on that.”

And he ended on an ironic note regarding the environment in which he works at CSM Bucharest: “It's very nice that people from the club have made this list available to you. I now realize where we are, in fact, and who I collaborate with. I'm really excited to see what special colleagues I have.”
