Thermal power plants were delivered to Ukraine from Lithuania. It will provide light and warmth to a million Ukrainians

Ukraine is reported to have received a thermal power plant from Lithuania through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

“The complex operation, which lasted 11 months, included 149 equipment deliveries weighing a total of 2,399 tons. Among these, 40 were oversized cargo, including extremely heavy transformers and stators weighing about 172 tons each,” the ministry said.

The support of the Polish Government Agency for Strategic Reserves played an important role in ensuring the complex transportation of these components.

The provided equipment helped carry out emergency repairs in several regions of Ukraine, where the energy infrastructure was significantly damaged as a result of Russian attacks, the Ministry of Energy noted.

The European Commission emphasized that the delivery of this thermal power plant will help provide light and heat to one million people who are facing the fourth winter of the Russian war of aggression.

Overall EU support for Ukraine's energy sector has helped millions of people, including the delivery of 9,500 generators and 7,200 transformers, according to the Ministry of Energy.

In total, the EC has allocated more than €1.2 billion for humanitarian assistance programs in Ukraine and delivered more than 160 thousand tons of aid.
