Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB and customs of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia identified and stopped the illegal export of 25 thousand cubic meters of lumber to one of the Asian countries.
A 43-year-old director of a company registered in Khakassia is suspected of organizing the crime.
“The woman systematically entered false information into customs declarations, which made it possible to hide the origin of the exported wood. The shipment was carried out in the Minusinsk region of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Hardwood and softwood lumber was illegally exported, including birch, aspen, Scots pine, Siberian pine, fir, spruce and larch. The total cost of the smuggled shipment amounted to 185 million rubles,” the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Two criminal cases were opened against the suspect under Part 2 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important resources on a large scale), the punishment for which includes imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with a fine of up to 1 million rubles. Currently, the defendant has been given a coercive measure in the form of an obligation to appear.
