“Poland should support Ukraine, but at the same time we should lead (…) to Ukraine treating Poland as a partner.” – he said.
— “The conflict has been going on for almost four years and I have the impression that we – Poles – often do not feel like partners in this relationship,” he added.
The president also pointed to issues that were particularly important from Poland's point of view, such as the issue of exhumation in Volhynia.
— “If in matters that are important to Poles (…) we see that for the Ukrainian side they are not even the subject of real consideration, the question arises: where is the partnership? I hope this will change,” Nawrocki noted.
During a press conference with Volodymyr Zelensky, Karol Nawrocki also expressed the opinion that Poland's assistance “was not sufficiently appreciated” by Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Poland
During a visit to Warsaw Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Poles several times for the support provided to his country. After the meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland, he emphasized that Poland had supported Ukraine since it gained independence in 1991.
In turn, during conversations with Donald Tusk Zelensky thanked “the Polish nation for its significant support from the very beginning of this war.”

The scale of Polish aid
As the rp.pl portal reminds, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Poland has provided extensive military assistance to Ukraine. In the years 2022–2024, the following were transferred: hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery sets, as well as MiG-29 fighters and Mi-24 helicopters. The total value of support was approximately EUR 4 billion.
Poland has also become a key logistics hub for foreign aid – almost the entire flow of support goes to Ukraine through the Rzeszów–Jasionka airport. At the same time, our country accepted hundreds of thousands of war refugees from Ukraine.
Poll results: majority supports the president's assessment
Participants of the SW Research survey for rp.pl were asked:
“Karol Nawrocki said that Poles today often do not feel like partners in their relations with Ukrainians. Do you agree with the president's assessment?”
- 59.8 percent respondents answered “yes”
- 25 percent – “NO”
- 15.2 percent no opinion
As Justyna Sobczak from SW Research comments, men agree with the president's opinion more often than women, and the highest percentage of support can be seen in the 25-34 age group. This position is also more often expressed by people with basic vocational education, respondents with higher incomes and residents of medium-sized cities.
The study was conducted by the research agency SW Research among users of the SW Panel online panel on December 16-17, 2025. The analysis covered a group of 800 Internet users over 18 years of age. The sample was selected in a random quota manner. The structure of the sample was adjusted using analytical weight to correspond to the structure of Poles over 18 years of age in terms of key characteristics related to the subject of the study. When constructing the weight, socio-demographic variables were taken into account.
