In Germany, a 14-year-old Islamist is being isolated under guard. 50 mental hospitals refused to admit her – media

A teenager who attacked a nurse with a knife in August will be temporarily housed in a specially equipped container in a strictly guarded area. This decision was made by the authorities after not a single specialized institution agreed to accept it on a permanent basis.

According to investigators, the girl became radicalized on the Internet, discussed plans for attacks and declared her intention to kill police officers.

According to authorities, about fifty psychiatric clinics refused to admit the teenager. In the summer she was temporarily housed in a guarded tourist complex, but she escaped twice. During one incident, she threatened a police officer with a piece of glass. Later, while in a clinic in Paderborn, she attacked a nurse with a kitchen knife and seriously wounded her.

Authorities emphasize that placement in a container is a temporary measure. After the attack, the teenager was first taken into custody and then sent to a closed psychiatric clinic in Hamm – formally due to the risk of suicide. However, a long stay there is not planned, since radicalization is not considered a mental illness, and it is impossible to place her in prison due to her age at the time of the crimes.
