Zelensky on the war and the future of Ukraine. Poland and NATO are crucial


Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized in an interview with PAP, TVP and Polish Radio that Ukraine does not block and will not block the process of searching and exhumation of Polish victims in Volhynia. As he noted, this process is not limited to political declarations, but has already begun.
“Representatives of memory institutes meet and specific steps are taken,” he said.

The President of Ukraine emphasized that historical reconciliation requires mutual respect and readiness for dialogue, and the tragic moments of our common history cannot be forgotten.
Elections during war? “I'm not holding on to the stool”
Zelensky also referred to the issue of future presidential and parliamentary elections. He declared clearly that he does not intend to cling to powerbut the organization of elections during war must meet a basic condition: the safety of citizens.
“If people are going to be killed at polling stations, it's not a democratic election“- he emphasized.
He added that Ukrainians are currently afraid of such a scenario, and holding a vote would require changes in the law and real security guarantees.

Relations with the US and Trump: honesty without intermediaries
The conversation also brought up the topic of relations with the USA. Zelensky emphasized that always talks openly with US President Donald Trump and values the directness of these contacts.
“Few people tell the US president directly what they think. I do that and he responds in the same way,” he noted, adding that he does not use special envoys or informal advisers.
The President of Ukraine also admitted that in the matter of security guarantees progress has been madeespecially on the United States side. He noted, however, that details are crucial – primarily the West's reaction to a possible further aggression by Russia.
Referring to the Kremlin's actions, Zelensky said: Vladimir Putin comes in many guises — he speaks differently to Americans, differently in public speeches. In his opinion, the Russian leader is not looking for reasons for the war, but justifications for further aggression.

Zelensky emphasized that Poland consistently supports Ukraine on its way to the European Union and NATO, although today the prospect of membership in the Alliance is more difficult due to the US position.
He also announced his interest in joint production of drones and missiles with Poland, pointing to the potential of companies in both countries and the importance of modern technologies in defense.
Finally, the President of Ukraine emphasized that the country sees its future only as an independent state. He expressed hope that after the end of the war, millions of Ukrainians would return to their homeland and immediately start rebuilding it.
“If we don't stop Putin, the war will continue. We don't want that.” – he concluded.
