On December 17, a beta testing program for the Russian mobile operating system (OS) Aurora, developed by the Open Mobile Platform company, a subsidiary of Rostelecom, was launched in Krasnoyarsk. During the event, participants were shown domestic smartphones and tablets based on a trusted OS.

Aurora is being created in Russia to provide a secure and reliable platform for government and corporate information systems. The project is aimed at replacing foreign operating systems such as iOS and Android, and provides a high level of data protection.

“Aurora’s development takes into account Russian standards and regulations, which ensures resistance to cyber threats and control over software. We use modern technological solutions that ensure compatibility with various hardware platforms and software products, as well as support for domestic encryption and authentication standards,” said Tatyana Kaznova, head of Aurora OS community development.

The beta testing program is one of the stages of operating system development. Access to it is provided to a limited number of users to test the operation of the product in real conditions, identify errors, receive feedback and prepare for the full launch of updates.

Krasnoyarsk became the 17th city in the Aurora beta testing program. In total, over 700 people take part in it.

“We demonstrated to Krasnoyarsk testers the functionality that will be implemented in the new version of Aurora. The tablet was turned into a full-fledged stationary workstation: a monitor, mouse and keyboard were connected for convenience when working with files. You can also connect other equipment, for example, a printer or projector,” explained Pavel Sholev, sales support engineer at Open Mobile Platform LLC.

“Previously, I had to study and test various digital solutions, such as smart home systems, multimedia set-top boxes for television and others. “It was a positive experience,” said Maxim Yushin, Aurora OS tester. — A number of changes that I proposed were taken into account by the developers. Now I’m interested in working on Aurora, perhaps I’ll bring something of my own to it.”

“The creation of a domestic operating system is an important step in the development of the country’s digital sovereignty. The project is focused on the widespread implementation of Aurora in government, educational and scientific institutions, as well as in the business sector interested in increasing the level of information security. In the future, the product aims to become one of the key ones in the line of Rostelecom’s B2B segment,” said Alexey Usatov, director of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Rostelecom.

Open Mobile Platform is a Russian company developing the Aurora mobile operating system and the Aurora Center corporate mobile device management platform, as well as other solutions that allow you to build a trusted mobile environment, guaranteeing increased productivity and protection of sensitive information. OS “Aurora” and “Aurora Center” are used in large government companies and organizations and form a secure mobile environment, guaranteeing secure employee access to corporate and government information systems. Rostelecom is a strategic partner in the development of domestic digital technologies and infrastructure.
