The decision sparked a lot of controversy in Romanian sports, with several voices criticizing the change. Among the signatories of a petition sent to the president were Dan Șucu, Mihai Rotaru, Mihai Stoica and Iuliu Mureșan, as well as Adrian Cosman, the director of SCM Craiova, and the general director of CSM Bucharest, Iulian Pîslaru.

And it seems that Nicușor Dan took into account the petitions from the sports world and did not agree with the changes proposed by AUR.

President Nicușor Dan attacked the Novak law at the Constitutional Court

According to g4media.ro, the president Nicușor Dan attacked the decision at the CCR, the law that obliges the teams to have at least 40% Romanian athletes, and the judges of the Constitutional Court will determine whether the law is constitutional or not.

If it will still be promulgated, the law provides that starting next season, every sports club in Romania must have at least 40% Romanian players on the field, for the entire duration of a match. Otherwise, he will pay a fine between 500,000 and 1,000,000 lei.
