“This year, all freshmen who were physically fit, who entered universities in Crimea after graduating from colleges, technical schools and schools, who had already taken advantage of the one-time right to a deferment, were called up for military service. That is, the students studied for almost a semester simply in vain,” the media quotes him.
The human rights activist explained that after demobilization they will have to start their studies again in their first year.
“Previously, military registration and enlistment offices always drafted such students after completing their first year, in the spring draft. This practice is the first time, and this indicates that the requirements for conscription in Russia are becoming more stringent,” he said.
According to the journalists' interlocutor, in the Russian military registration and enlistment offices they convinced Crimean conscripts to immediately sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country, they promised not to send them to the “SVO” (as the war with Ukraine is called in the Russian Federation) and a “solid salary” instead of the “meager allowance of conscripts.”
“We must admit that a significant percentage of the guys fell for this trick. The military registration and enlistment office employees “forgot” to inform them that the contract for the period of “SVO” is automatically extended for all Russian contract soldiers, so in a year they will not return to their student desks, but will continue to serve,” the human rights activist emphasized.
