Italian tennis player Lorenzo Musetti (23, 8 ATP) is celebrating the excellent season he had in 2025, breaking into the world top 10 for the first time, but he is unreservedly setting a clear goal for the year ahead, in which he aims to threaten the supremacy of Alcaraz and Sinner.
At the end of a good year, in which he achieved the best ranking of his career, Lorenzo Musetti is enjoying the outstanding performance of the 2025 season and inevitably looks to the future, with the next step and the next level in mind, which he says he is ready to unlock.
Currently the only player in the top 10 to keep the famous one-handed lapel tradition alive, Lorenzo Musetti knows that in 2026 he will need to improve in all departments to continue to progress. And expectations are high from all sides.

“José Perlas is an important figure who I think can bring me something extra, in addition to my historical coach, Simone Tartarini,” admitted Musetti, in an interview with Eurosport, as quoted by Punto de Break.
“I think teamwork can help us take steps forward, make the final leap I'm looking for. It's been two weeks since we started pre-season training, we're working hard and the feelings are very good. Our first stop will be Australia and I have only good intentions for the new season”added adds the current world number 8.
Even before the arrival of Perlas, Musetti in 2025 managed to push his limits many times, even if he did not manage to crown the results with a title. “There are some images from this season that still resonate in my mind, such as the final in Monte Carlo, the semi-finals at Roland Garros or entering the world top 10.
The best moment, though, I think was the reception I got from the crowd in Turin and my win there against Alex De Minaur. It was something really superb, hard to describe in words,” Musetti recalled.
“I'm working with the intention of being more aggressive, I think that's fundamental in the modern game,” added Musetti, who has never hidden his intention to improve, although what has happened on the circuit has shown him that he needs something more to have a say in front of those at the top.
“I think my skills can go in that direction. I don't mean just being a forward, but being more proactive from the first point shots. We're moving in that direction now.”admitted the 23-year-old player.
He wants to have a real chance with Alcaraz and Sinner
Musetti's motivation also appeared in the context of the month-by-month dominance of the two great players of the circuit, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who, despite their age, have already created a visible difference between themselves and the rest of the players in the world hierarchy. The Italian is aware of this, he knows the difference, but he has the courage to say that in 2026 he will try to create chances in front of them.
“This season has seen the distance that exists between them and the others. They are both one step ahead of everyone. If I decided to add some important figures to my team, it was precisely to try to take a big step in that direction, to reduce a gap that this year was still very evident. I hope that in the future I can occupy the third step of the podium”, added Lorenzo Musetti.
