Feyenoord was spectacularly beaten by FCSB, 4-3after leading 3-1 at the National Arena, and at the end of the match Robin van Persie (42 years old), the coach of the Dutch, delivered a harsh speech to his team.

Van Persie, strong message after the failure in Bucharest
The technician admitted that Feyenoord gave up control of the game and facilitated the spectacular comeback of the Romanian champions:
“Until our third goal, we played really well. After that, we didn't make the best decisions. In my opinion, we gave the opponents this game.“
Van Persie praised FCSB's comeback but stressed that all the goals conceded could have been avoided:
“From their point of view, they came back very well and managed to score. But we had to be better. If we look at every goal, it was all down to us. That makes us very disappointed.”
The Dutch coach pointed out that his team's lack of lucidity decided the fate of the game:
“Because of the choices we made, we made their return easier. At 3-1, the game was ours. Bucharest (no FCSB) was waiting for the mistakes and I offered them. We didn't make the best decisions, neither when we had possession nor when we defended. If we look at their goals, we should have been better.”
