Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Saturday that his country would continue military action against Cambodia until “threats” disappear.

“Thailand will continue military action until we determine that our territory and our nation are no longer under threat,” Charnvirakul said in a message on Facebook. “I want to say this clearly. Our current actions speak for themselves,” he added.
The entry appeared despite the assurances of US President Donald Trump, who stated on Friday that he had held talks with the heads of government of Thailand and Cambodia, after which both countries were to agree to stop the fighting – emphasized the AFP agency.
“I had a very good conversation with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet this morning about the very unfortunate resurgence of their long-running war. They agreed to STOP the shooting as of this evening and to return to the original peace agreement they made with me, with the support of the great Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Meanwhile, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet assured in a statement published on Facebook on Saturday that the Cambodian side is still striving for a peaceful solution to the disputes, as agreed at the end of October.
Thailand and Cambodia then signed a ceasefire agreement, negotiated with Trump's participation. However, it was broken just a few weeks later.
The Thai army maintains that the Cambodian military carried out artillery fire on Wednesday evening, attacking its positions. In retaliation, Thai soldiers fired at the enemy, destroying, among others, trucks. According to the pro-government website Cambodia's Fresh News, the exchange of fire continued on Thursday.
The parties accused each other of provoking aggression. On Thursday, the AP news agency reported, citing the Thai military, that over 20 people, including three civilians, were killed in clashes near the border of both countries. Cambodian authorities reported that nine civilians, including an infant, were killed on its side, and 46 other people were injured. (PAP)
