In an interview conducted on Monday and published on Tuesday for the Politico website, Trump repeated his earlier statements that although Volodymyr's advisers Zelensky “really liked” the latest US peace proposals, Zelensky himself has not read them yet.
– You know, a lot of people are dying. So it would be really good if he read it. His men were delighted with this proposal. They really liked it. His deputies, his people in positions of power, liked it, but said he hadn't read it yet. “I think he should make time for it,” Trump said.
In an interview with Politico, Trump expressed the view that Russia will ultimately win the war with Ukraine due to its territorial advantage and superior negotiating position. At the same time, he paid tribute to the Ukrainian nation and army for their courage and determination in battle, noting, however, that “at some point size will win.”
The US president again expressed his opposition to Ukraine's accession to NATO, pointing out that even before Vladimir Putin took power there was an understanding that Ukraine will not become a member of the Alliance. His position on this matter is consistent with Moscow's previous declarations.
Trump also referred to the issue of the elections in Ukraine, suggesting that Kiev is using the ongoing war as an excuse to abandon them. Ukraine, which has lost a significant part of its territory since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022, should hold elections, according to Trump.

In response to these allegations, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared his readiness to call presidential elections, provided that international allies ensure the security of the electoral process.
