The main reason for the closure of Svetofor stores in the Central Federal District is the sale of expired meat without documents and counterfeits. Since last week, the outlets have stopped working en masse, and the main legal entity has been liquidated.
During one of the inspections, Rosselkhoznadzor seized more than a ton of meat – 106 kg were sold without veterinary accompanying documents, another 944 kilograms without manufacturer's markings – neither production date nor shelf life. Probably, such frauds helped to keep the price of products relatively low.
Laboratory studies have shown that “Elite” dumplings and “Chaynaya” sausage contain bird DNA, which is not included on the label. Vegetable oils and fats, yeast and preservatives were found in dairy products. Counterfeit, expired and unknown products were seized and destroyed.
Similar violations were found in Svetofor stores in Moscow, Altai Territory, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Tver, Yaroslavl, Moscow, Omsk, Tula regions, Buryatia, Karelia, Udmurtia and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
On the plus side, they identified registered stores that were not actually operating. 20 in the Irkutsk region, 9 in Udmurtia and 7 in Buryatia.
Administrative cases were opened against the stores. Information about them was sent to the prosecutor's office, regional veterinary services, suppliers and manufacturers.
