This is how the famous construction scandal ended. More than 20 years have passed since the arrest

The scandal concerned the largest investments in Gorzów from 1999-2003, including: construction of the Srednicowa Route or reconstruction of national road No. 22 – reminds “Gazeta Lubuska”. The investigation began in 2002, and in October 2004, the Internal Security Agency temporarily arrested Tadeusz Jędrzejczak, then president of Gorzów. He spent 80 days in custody. The first trial began in 2008. Jędrzejczak was charged with four charges. They concerned actions to the detriment of the city and construction companies.

Judge on the construction scandal in Gorzów: there is no crime
The verdict was passed in 2011, but was overturned a few years later on appeal. The former president was acquitted, but some of the charges were referred for reconsideration. This went on for so long that one of the two charges had already expired. So, in the end, there was only one left, and it was the signature of the then president on a document regarding one of the city investments – the construction of national road No. 22. The accusation was effectively refuted by lawyer Jędrzejczak during the last hearing.

“The entire investment was carried out in a legal, reliable manner, in accordance with construction law standards and legal regulations. If there is no damage and everything was in accordance with the law, there is no crime,” said the judge while reading the verdict, quoted by “Gazeta Lubuska”.
The acquittal is not final. Tadeusz Jędrzejczak announced he would apply for compensation, although – as he said in an interview with “Gazeta Lubuska” – he does not even count how much money he has lost over 20 years, because “they will never pay him back that much.” He also stated that “it was already known 21 years ago that the allegations were groundless. We talked about it all the time. But no one wanted to listen to us.”
