May 3, 2025, stage 7 of the League 3 play-out. In series 8, at the “Petre Libardi” stadium in Petroșani, CSM Jiul received the visit of Vulturii Fărcășești. The visitors led 2-0 at half-time, the hosts hit back in the second half to make the final score 3-2, the scenario known to punters as '2 half time, 1 full time' ♦ 7 months later, during which the media reported on the suspicions surrounding that match, including shocking testimonies from a football player involved, the case finally reaches the table of the Disciplinary Commission of the FRF.
The court date was set for December 15. 16 people were summoned to hearings, those who appear as “defendants” in the investigation. It is about:
-
Representatives of CS Vulturii Fărcășești: president Robert Dumitru Mihai, delegate Fănuț Vlăduțoiu, coaches Ionuț Cătălin Bucă and Alexandru Oprița;
-
Players of CS Vulturii Fărcășești: Samson Nwabueze, Constantin Fabian Bălășoiu, Horațiu Peia, Ionut Alexandru Mainerici, Robert Mădălin Bubuioc, Mihai Alexandru Iuțalîm, Gabriel Marin Oiță, Gheorghe Gavril Leonard, Răzvan Florentin Vulpe;
-
Game Officials: Iuliana Demetrescu and Alina Mihoc;
-
Representative of CSM Jiul Petroșani: President Erika Preda.
The match no longer had a sporting stake: Jiul Petroșani occupied the first position in the series, the opponent in that match was second in the ranking. There were no emotions about relegation.
The bookmakers considered Jiul to have the first chance to win. In this context, what happened in the first half, for the Eagles to score twice to lead 2-0 at the break, was a surprise.
Activity in Asian betting markets has raised suspicions. In August, prosport.ro reported how the match came to the attention of the Integrity Department within the FRF, citing sources who said that “it was heavily played, online odds on various platforms in Asia ranged between 90 and 110 on the 2 halftime / 1 final betting scenario with a minimum of 5 goals scored in the match”.
4 months after the revelations in the press, the case of the match Jiul Petroșani – CS Vulturii Fărcășești, accused of betting counter, reaches Discipline
The script was followed to the letter. In the second half, Jiul scored 3 times and won 3-2.
All the goals came after phases that the defending team treated apathetically.
-
In the 36th minute, the Eagles open the scoring. Long pass from defence, close to the corner of the pitch, Mathias Hondorocu jumps past the ball, the defensive colleague does not collect quickly enough, and Robert Bubuioc scores.
-
Minute 41. The visitors' goalkeeper clears, two Jiu players fail to repel, a pass over the hosts' defense leaves Bogdan Duța alone with the goalkeeper. He finishes for 0-2. “Terrific, what blunders! Unbelievable, something like that. You can't do something like that, individual mistakes in a chain. Unfathomable!”, reacts the commentator close to the host club.
VIDEO summary of the match Jiul – Vulturii Fărcășești: how the goals were scored suspected of a betting arrangement
The second half starts with Jiul on the attack. The hosts miss a couple of good chances, including one in the 50th minute after defender Samson Nwabueze misses what should have been a simple clearance. A few seconds away, also in the 50th minute, Jiul reduces the handicap.
-
Goalkeeper Mihai Iuțalîm restarts the game in a curious way, with a pass 30 meters from the goal, towards Răzvan Florentin Vulpe. He takes it wide, is dispossessed, the hosts combine at speed and Ramon Gașpar scores.
-
The 2-2 goal comes in the 65th minute. The goalkeeper of Jiului clears, Covaci prolongs with his head, Hondorocu sends into the box, to Gabriel Fulga. The same Nwabueze is turned slightly and watches as the ball is extended to Ramon Gașpar, who equalizes at 2.
It didn't take long for the breakthrough that confirmed the reversal of the score.
-
In the 67th minute, Alexandru Mainerici loses the ball on the edge of his own box, Covaci crosses, Fulga heads past Nwabueze, who doesn't even jump to trouble his opponent.

Nwabueze does not jump to block the cross
All the players involved in these phases (Nwabueze, Vulpe, Iuțalîm, Mainerici) are among those summoned to the Disciplinary Commission for the deadline of December 15.
Shocking testimonials: “I told the referee to stop the match! Stop this mess”
In the 71st minute, “central” Iuliana Demetrescu stops the match after one of the Jiu players sat down on the lawn, complaining of cramps. Taking advantage of that break, goalkeeper Jan Turiță “rushed” towards the referee and had a short dialogue with her. Later, in a series of startling claims, the veteran of the booty revealed that he sensed something was foul and relayed it to the referee!

“For that match, I gave a statement for five hours to the FRF Integrity Commission. I went to Iuliana Demetrescu and told her like this: “Don't you see what's happening? They're running away with me, goalkeeper, and I'm 10 meters from the goal! I'm turning the ball, waiting for the defender to reach them, they don't want to finish! It's clear, only a fool or a malicious person can't figure it out”.
I told him to stop the game and it will have a big impact on football because this crap has to stop.
She told me that what does she have to do with us?, what are we doing?and then I reacted. I told him to take it easy with “us”. What “we”, who “us”? Why is he putting me on?! But I wouldn't blame her either, that was a finding of mine during the game. In my eyes as a football player, as an athlete, which entitled me to believe that. We had no proof,” Turiță told the quoted source.

Jan Turita
“The president takes off his jacket, the coach opens his tracksuit. Signs to take another goal”
He began to suspect collusion even before the match, following a discussion with an opponent.
“On the typical walk before the game, I had a discussion with a player from Fărcășești, who was my opponent in the past, when he was at Cluj University and I was at Miroslava. It was about Brian Lemac. We weren't friends, we didn't have his phone number, we just respected each other out of collegiality. And I asked him how he was doing, how was he? And he told me that he was unhappy with what was happening at You fart.
He told me, I quote: “These are the ones I make for bets”. He also listed some matches for me, just like that, 3-2, after 2-0 which, frankly, I didn't remember. And that he wouldn't want to stay. But if he wanted to be vertical he didn't have to stay any longer, he could leave the game. He didn't, unfortunately. He said, verbatim: “I think there will be something today too, that's what it sounds like”. (…)
When I saw 2-0 at halftime I started to remember the discussion with Lemac. And I say: “Wait and see that we beat in the second half!”. And so it happened. The second half was a fiasco.
Until then, I have never lived or seen anything like this! Maybe I have taken part, unknowingly, in some rigged matches, but I have never seen anything like this. Didn't you notice how they played with the goalkeeper? Or the density of the pass to the goalkeeper, on the frame of the goal… They were putting the goalkeeper in a delicate situation, in such a way that he would cause an error that would lead to a goal being scored.
My colleague Fulga, the attacker, was told by the opposing defenders: “Give me, on the goal!”. I don't know if Fulga will want to confirm it, but that's what he said in the dressing room. When their players escaped with me, they gave in all directions, Lemac had it from 11 meters, 12 meters and sent it wide when he had the option of the long corner. And I remembered something from the dialogue with Lemac before the match.
He told me like this: «You see that this one, the coach, opens up to the tracksuit or what he wears. There in the tribune, the president takes off his jacket or coat. Signs when to empty again». He told me before the game that it was happening at their place in Fărcășești. Well, you're crazy, it's gotten to this point, I didn't believe it!”.
Prior to the statements made by Jan Turiță, in June, a former player of the team from Fărcășești, Constantin “Costi” Roncea, complained on social networks that he and his colleagues were “made to make counters”. Here is his post, later deleted:

After that match, Jan Turiță signed the termination with Jiul
Turiță also claimed that after that match he was called by what he calls a “sports betting dealer”.
“He didn't introduce himself, but he asked me for an explanation about the way I reacted after the match with Fărcășești. “Why did you do that circus?”, he asked me. And I told him, thinking he was from Fărcășești, that they did the circus. He called me on WhatsApp with a rather strange number. He was the one who helped the good guys, he placed the money, he was part of the system.
He told me that some players from us contacted them, that is, this gang of theirs, their clan, whatever they are. He contacted them during the week of the game and in the past. That he has information that dirty games were made for bets at several matches”.
After complaining about this interaction to the president of the club, he claims that he was offered the termination of the contract:
“So a player comes to you and says something like that, signals to you a possible fraud and you come to propose his termination? On the 3rd was the game, on the 5th, on the 6th I terminated.”
How the president from Fărcășești defends himself
Confronted with these accusations, Robert Dumitru Mihai, the president of SC Vulturii Fărcășești, claimed for golazo.ro that “the FRF investigation started from a complaint made by a former player, Roncea Ion Constantin, whom we kicked out because he came to training drunk. He went to the FRF and made statements against us, as if we had fixed matches”.
Regarding defeating Jiulhis explanation was that “we also used juniors, and the boys were on vacation for about two or three stages. We had missed the play-off in the last stage, at Câmpulung, and there was no way to relegate”.
There are also suspicions regarding two results recorded by the team from Fărcășești in friendly matches: 0-5 with FCU Craiova in February 2025, 0-8 with CSM Slatina in June 2025.
