Regional prosecutor Roman Tyutyunik said that Barankin was found to have apartments and non-residential premises in Moscow, Sochi and Krasnoyarsk, purchased with unconfirmed income.
“The amount of his official income is clearly insufficient to acquire such assets, so they are subject to conversion into state revenue,” Tyutyunik explained on press conference on the fight against corruption.
Previously, the court found Barankin guilty of stealing 15.5 million rubles allocated for medicines for patients. Instead of the necessary drugs, he and his accomplices supplied other medications and pocketed the difference. Barankin was sentenced to 6 years in a general regime colony and a fine of 700 thousand rubles.
