A 59 -year -old woman from Melbourne, Australia, has traveled a difficult road to become a mother. After his doctor told him he can start in vitro fertilization (IVF), the woman resorted to an old friend with a less common request: to become the sperm donor.

“He is a very good friend. I told him he would be a wonderful father and that I have no financial claim. All I want is to be present in the lives of children, if he wants to,” Carmel Rugolino told ABC News.
The road to become a mother, however, has proven extremely long and expensive. It took almost 30 IVF cycles, four egg donors and about $ 300,000 for Rugolino to become the mother of two boys, who are now 9 and 14 years old.
During this trip, between Carmel and the sperm donor, a relationship has been crushed. The two approached a vacation in South America, and shortly after the return, the man proposed to move together to Melbourne and try to conceive a child as a couple.
Their relationship has not resisted time. The two divorced during the quarantine period in the coronavirus pandemic. However, they have remained in good relationships and collaborate for the good of children. Looking back, Carmel Rugolino says he regrets nothing.
“It was a difficult road, but not regret, because I have this incredible miracle – two children. Mom and father I love them,” she said.
