Axios also wrote, citing a source, that The parties made significant progress on the US security guarantee for Ukraine and came closer to reaching an agreement. However, more work is needed to ensure that both sides interpret the draft security guarantee in a similar way.
“The main challenging issues concern territorial issues and security guarantees. We are trying to ensure that the agreed solutions are realistic, fair and tenable,” Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Olha Stefanishyna told Axios.
Zelensky himself announced earlier on Saturday that he had held a telephone conversation with Witkoff and Kushner on key issues related to ending the bloodshed and preventing another armed aggression by Russia. The President of Ukraine announced that he expects a detailed report from the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Andriy Hnatov, who talked with Witkoff and Kushner in Florida.
Umerov and Hnatov are to return to Europe from Miami and inform Zelensky on Monday in London about the American proposals.
