Putin's father beat him with a pitchfork his mother's eye, after which he was forced to marry her, – BILD.
The publication writes that it happened around 1928 in the village of Turginovo in the Tver region. 17-year-old Maria invited young Volodymyr to her home, but he unexpectedly came with a company. The girl was frightened and did not want to let them in, then the young men began to break the gate with pitchforks. In the end, one of the blows landed directly in her face, causing doctors to remove her eye.
After that, Maria's mother, threatening the court, insisted that Volodymyr was obliged to marry the girl. In the rare preserved photographs, she almost always turned away to the side so that the part of her face with the knocked out eye was not visible.
