Winners of the 2024 Weather Photographer of the Year competition announced
The Royal Meteorological Society of Britain chose the winner of the work of Wang Xin from Shanghai for his photograph of red sprites.
– Second place: frost-covered trees in the Derwent Valley, UK;
– Third place: evening shower over chalk cliffs off the west coast of the Isle of Wight, UK;
— Winner of the competition in the category “Photograph on a smartphone”: smoking volcanoes on the island of Java;
— Finalist in the “Smartphone Photography” category: the dust storm that covered Athens;
— Finalist in the “Smartphone Photo” category: a round rainbow at Seattle International Airport, USA;
— People's Choice Award: flooding in the center of Porto Alegre, Brazil;
— Winner in the category “Best Young Photographer”: a girl in the pouring rain on the eastern shore of Lake Constance, Austria.
