Veto on the amendment to the Electoral Code. Nawrocki talks about the risk of shipping abroad

The amendment to the Act on the Electoral Code, adopted on the initiative of MPs, provided for a very large systemic change, namely universal postal voting. Currently, people with disabilities can vote in this way. The amendment allowed every voter to cast a vote and send it by post, although only in parliamentary and presidential elections. It did not cover local government elections.

Shipping abroad is too much of a risk
However, President Karol Nawrocki stated that “the unregistered sending of electoral packages abroad, as provided for in the Act, poses a serious risk because it makes this process dependent on the quality of services of postal operators from many countries.” That is why he vetoed the amendment to the Electoral Code.
– In today's world, where hybrid threats and interference in the electoral process are real, the lack of full control over the voting process is a serious and unacceptable risk that we cannot take, the president emphasized in a short recording. His doubts were also raised by the failure to ensure the secrecy of voting outside the polling station.
