Warszawa Zachodnia after major reconstruction. This is what the new railway station looks like

As Warsaw's “Gazeta Wyborcza” writes, the former, narrow and crowded tunnel was replaced by a spacious underground hall. It is located on level -1 and is over half a kilometer long and as much as 64 meters wide. “We once compared that a Boeing 747 could fit here. There has never been such a wide underground passage in Warsaw before.” – said Jakub Konkiewicz, contract director from Budimex, in an interview with the capital's “Wyborcza”.
Even people are expected to pass through the station every day 100 thousand passengersusing almost a thousand regional, long-distance and suburban trains.
At the opening, railway workers announce attractions and tastings. “We have prepared live music, photo booths and regional snacks – from croissants from Wielkopolska to Podlasie sękacz” – says Anna Znajewska-Pawluk from PKP PLK, quoted by “Wyborcza”.

Photovoltaics on the roof and new communication
The station's distinguishing feature is its huge roof – as much as 2.5 hectares – almost half of which is covered with photovoltaic panels. As “Wyborcza” writes, it is one of the largest such solutions in Europe. Energy from the sun covers up to 30 percent station demand.
New solutions are also intended to improve the comfort of passengers: there are elevators, numerous escalators, and a new footbridge provides convenient access to the platforms. Cyclists will use ramps and a spiral descent that will connect Wola with Ochota.
