Ion Geolgău, sent for a walk from the FRF. The former official failed the integrity test after allegations of sexual harassment
The Romanian Football Federation returned with a statement regarding the internal investigation opened on behalf of Ion Geolgău (64 years old), former international and former head of the scouting department, after the accusations of sexual harassment that appeared in the fall.

Everything broke out on September 20, when Ion Geolgău was accused of sexually harassing the mother of a junior from the national teams. Following the complaint, the FRF immediately launched an internal investigation to verify the situation.
The investigation is ongoing
Almost two months later, the Federation announces that the investigation is still ongoing, but confirms that Ion Geolgău is no longer part of the FRF structure. His contract was terminated, and the position of head of the scouts remained vacant.
The federation is not giving further details about the status of the investigation at this time, and the official conclusions are to be communicated after the verifications are completed.
“The Romanian Football Federation specifies that, in accordance with the Internal Order Regulation and the Code of Ethics, applicable to all employees, the internal investigation was launched at that time (no – September 20, 2025).
At the same time, we mention that in the meantime the contract between FRF and Mr. Ion Geolgău was concluded with the agreement of the parties. However, the internal investigation is still ongoing, and its conclusions will be announced soon by the Romanian Football Federation“, FRF transmitted, according to Golazo.
Serious accusations against Ion Geolgău
The scandal in which Ion Geolgău is involved continues to gain momentum, after fragments of a conversation attributed to the former international appeared in the public space.
According to Gazeta de Cluj, Ion Geolgău would have sent several messages with a sexual tone to the mother of a child who is in the attention of Romania's junior teams.
Among the messages attributed to him are lines such as: “Take off your tights to the beat of the music” or “I would have liked a shower scene with soap on you“.
The screenshots circulated quickly online, and the situation immediately came to the attention of the Romanian Football Federation.
Following the appearance of these conversations, FRF launched an internal investigation to clarify the role and behavior of Ion Geolgău in this case.
The former international from the University of Craiova admitted that the messages belonged to him, but claimed that the discussion was an old one and that the situation was taken out of context.
