Striker Marcus Thuram says Inter's players believe in the future of the team and the manager despite their 1-0 loss to Milan in the Serie A Round 12 derby.

The Nerazzurri attacked throughout the match and hit the bar twice in the first half through Francesco Acerbi and Lautaro Martinez, but Christian Pulisic scored the only goal of the game to give Milan a 1-0 victory.

Hakan Calhanoglu had a chance to equalize from the penalty spot after Thuram was fouled by Strahinja Pavlovic, but his shot was saved by Mike Maignan.

Marcus Thuram: “I should have sent the ball the other way”

After the final whistle, it was suggested to Marcus Thuram in the press conference that he had been unlucky in the first half when Mike Maignan made a fantastic one-handed save on his header, but he was not convinced.

“I think I should have sent the ball in the other direction. Since the ball was coming from one side, I should have sent it to the other side, past the goalkeeper,” Thuram told DAZN Italia, as quoted by sportal.bg.

Marcus Thuram insists Chivu 'is an excellent coach and gives good advice'

Inter's head-to-head record this season is appalling, with defeats against Juventus, Napoli and Milan and just one win against Roma.

By comparison, Milan beat Bologna, Napoli, Roma and Inter, and drew with Juventus, even when they didn't particularly dominate the game.

“I can't explain it, but together with the coach we will find the solutions because he is an excellent coach and gives good advice on how to improve. It's true that it was a big game, but it's only November and there are still a lot of games to go.”

Marcus Thuram: “We can't throw everything away”

One journalist noted that the “Nerazzurri” are particularly vulnerable to counter-attacks, especially when their dominance in the game does not translate into goals.

“Because we want to have a lot of possession, it's true that when we lose it, we become vulnerable to counter-attacks. I would say that Milan and Real Madrid are the most dangerous teams on the counter-attack in Europe,” the French striker pointed out.

Thuram's conclusion: “I know we've lost, but I think we're on the right track. We have faith in the coach and in this project, so a loss cannot make us change our mind about it. There are always things to improve, but we can't throw everything away”.
