Europe's counterproposal
European leaders quite unanimously criticized the Americans' plan. It was announced that amendments to it would be negotiated in Geneva. Reuters revealed the content of the European counterproposal on Sunday afternoon. It provides for, among others: stationing NATO fighters in Poland and modifies the United States' proposals regarding, among others, restrictions on Kiev's armed forces and territorial concessions. During Sunday's talks, the US president attacked Ukraine. He stated on the Truth Social platform that the Ukrainian authorities “have not expressed any gratitude” for American help and attempts to end the war. He also added that “the United States continues to sell huge amounts of weapons to NATO in order to transfer them to Ukraine.”
Several entries commenting on the current situation were posted on Sunday on X by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. In one of them, he referred to Trump's claims, emphasizing: “we are grateful for everything.”
Ukraine is satisfied with the talks with the US
After hours 18, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, announced the end of talks between the Ukrainian and American delegations. “I want to confirm that the first session with the esteemed American delegation was very fruitful. We have made significant progress and are moving towards a just and lasting peace,” he said.

In turn, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that they had the “best meeting so far” with the Ukrainian side on ending the war, and both teams are working on changes to the US peace proposal. Zelensky on signals regarding Trump
In an evening recording, Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the first, completed talks between the Ukrainian and US delegations in Geneva. “Negotiations in Switzerland will continue today, teams will work until dark,” he announced. “It is important that talks with American representatives are ongoing and there are signals that President Trump's team is listening to us,” he noted.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with the US president on Sunday. “It is important to work together at this critical time,” Downing Street said in a statement following Sunday's telephone conversation. Both politicians recognized that “it is important to work together at this critical moment to achieve a just and lasting peace” between Russia and Ukraine.
