Putin will not accept Trump's “peace plan” for Ukraine. The former Russian diplomat named the reasons

According to him, some of the provisions are unlikely to suit Moscow, for example, the proposal to use frozen Russian assets to restore Ukraine under US control.

In addition, the US “peace plan” proposes to create a “Peace Council” under the leadership of American President Donald Trump, which will monitor compliance with the terms of the agreement. According to Bondarev, this scheme completely puts Trump in the position of an observer and assessor of the actions of the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, and for him this is humiliating and unacceptable, since it is not in his worldview to put someone above himself.

The very appearance of such a US initiative, according to Putin, signals that Washington is capitulating “because it is tired, scared and seeks to avoid intervention,” the former Russian diplomat noted.

As Bondarev noted, for Putin, the “peace plan” is proof of his victory – if the United States offers such conditions, then they “gave up and are ready to accept his demands.” What is important for Putin is not the agreement with Ukraine, but the agreement with the United States, in which Washington officially recognizes Moscow’s conditions, the ex-diplomat emphasized.

Bondarev believes that in its current form, the US “peace plan” to end the war of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation against Ukraine is doomed. Ukraine will not accept it, Europe will try to soften it, and Russia will consider it insufficient, he wrote.

Most likely, the document will be radically rewritten or simply discarded, the former Russian diplomat concluded.

Bondarev is the only Russian foreign policy official to resign in protest against the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Context

This week, Western media reported that the Trump administration, together with the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, has prepared a plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war. Published media insiders indicate that the document may actually mean the surrender of Ukraine, and European politicians also point to this.

Media sources claimed that, according to the document, the United States may recognize the occupied Donbass and Crimea as Russian, Ukraine will be required to reduce the size of its army by half, sanctions will be lifted from Russia and the investigation of its war crimes in Ukraine will be stopped.

According to media reports, Trump has already approved this project. Axios published the full text of the 28-point agreement.

Sky News reported on November 21 that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will discuss a “peace plan” with Trump next week. The US President wants the document to be signed before November 27.

Zelensky said on November 21 that this is “one of the most difficult moments” in Ukrainian history. He noted that Ukraine may face “a very difficult choice.” “Either loss of dignity, or the risk of losing a key partner.” The President added that Kyiv “will do everything to ensure the end of the war” and “not the end of Ukraine has taken place.” Answering a media question about Zelensky's statements, Trump noted that the President of Ukraine will have to accept a “peace plan.”

On November 22, the media reported that EU leaders had already sent the United States its own version of a revised “peace plan” for Ukraine. Trump said on the same day that the “peace plan” for Ukraine is not “final”.
