“The President of Ukraine has officially received a draft plan from the American side, which – according to the American side – may revitalize diplomatic efforts,” Zelensky's office wrote on social media platforms.

Zelensky wants a “dignified end to the war”

The statement emphasized that the President of Ukraine “presented fundamental issues important for the (Ukrainian) nation, and as a result of today's meeting, it was agreed that work will be carried out on the points of the plan – so as to enable a dignified end to the war” with Russia.

Zelensky repeated that his country has been striving for peace since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022 and supports all proposals that could bring an end to the fighting.

“Since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has supported President Trump's proposals to end the bloodshed. We are also now ready to work constructively with the US side and our partners in Europe and the world to achieve peace,” the presidential office said.

“The President of Ukraine hopes to discuss with President Trump in the coming days the existing diplomatic possibilities and key points necessary to achieve peace,” Zelensky's office emphasized.

What does the plan include? The media writes about Donbas and the Russian language

According to, among others, Axios and Politico portals The US and Russia are currently working on a 28-point plan, which assumes the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the entire Donbas – this region would be under Russian control, but would be considered a demilitarized zone.

In the Kherson and Zaporizhia Oblasts, the current front lines would mostly be frozen, and Russia would return some of the occupied territory after negotiations. The plan also assumes recognizing the Russian language as the official state language in Ukraine and giving official status to the local branch of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The British daily Financial Times reported, in turn, that “the document calls on Ukraine to limit key weapons resources and also (postulates) the withdrawal of American military aid (for this country), which is of great importance for its defense.”

“Officials in Kiev who were briefed on the plan said it was strictly in line with the Kremlin's maximalist demands and that it was unacceptable to Ukraine without significant changes,” reported the British daily Financial Times.
