Satisfied with the level noted in Lisav Eissat in the match against San Marino, Mircea Lucescu plans to turn the defender with Israeli origins into a constant appearance in the squad. In his last media appearance, the coach addressed the subject of defensive vulnerabilities at length, insisting on putting Eissat in an extremely favorable light.

Mircea Lucescu's second term at the helm of the first national team had less news than the people who analyzed Mircea Lucescu's career would have guessed, in this case those who permanently described him as a “courageous reformer, discoverer of talents”.

However, towards the very end of the campaign, Mircea Lucescu surprised everyone by betting on Lisav Eissat, Maccabi Haifa's 20-year-old stopper, for two actions in a rowborn in Israel, from an Israeli father and a Romanian mother.

Lisav Eissat conquered Mircea Lucescu. The selector proposes him to clubs in the first league

The massive central defender made his debut in last month's friendly with the Republic of Moldova, then played in the friendly with San Marino. Hesitant at the start of the match in which the national team even conceded a goal from the bottom of the FIFA ranking, Eissat regained his composure and finished the match from the full-back position, contributing to one of the goals of the “tricolors”.

At the end, Mircea Lucescu made a surprising statement, suggesting to the first league clubs to consider the defender who plays in the Israeli first league.

“I really liked this Eissat, who is 20 years old. I liked the others too, but for one who made his debut in an official match. In the first half he was afraid to pass. That's what happens, you can't control these emotions.

My mission is to make a strong team, but unfortunately I don't have the young players I would like. I hope to see Eissat in the Romanian championship“, the selector pointed out.

Quoted at 300,000 euros by Transfermarkt, Eissat still has a contract with Maccabi Haifa, where he performs regularly, until June 30, 2027. With the exception of the group from Haifa, Eissat also played on loan at Hapoel Hadera.

Who answers Lucescu's call?

In theory, should Eissat seek experience outside of Israel, away from his family, he would be an ideal target for Premier League clubs, especially given that he would meet the eligibility criteria for the U21 rule.

Dinamo, for example, is testing the track of acquiring a young defender with solid future prospects. In this sense, the “dogs” have recently shown their interest in Mario Tudose, Matei Ilie, but also in the international U19 Emanuel Marincău.

And Andrei Nicolescu, the president of Dinamo, recently admitted that he tried to regiment Eissat:

“Lisav is a player we've been following for two years. We wanted to transfer him since last fall, when nobody knew anything about him in Romania. At that time it was a conjuncture and we didn't succeed, nor did we insist very hard because we weren't all convinced whether to take him, but we knew him.

I spoke with Mr. Lucescu about Lisav. This year we wanted to transfer him again, only he reached a good share and we couldn't get close to him anymore”said Nicolescu, at Prima Sport.

Financially powerful, including Rapid and Universitatea Craiova could at some point be interested in Eissat's services, both testing the track of youth internationals. Craiova, for example, took Darius Fălcușan this summer, after the developments that the 19-year-old defender had at EURO U19.

However, the disadvantage of the two is that, for the moment, they possess multiple solutions in the area of central defenders.

And FCSB have recently been on the hunt for a centre-back, with the 'Mario Tudose soap opera' being notorious. However, immediately after the friendly with Moldova, Mihai Stoica was not too impressed by Eissat's qualities: “A player without a waist, strong, with a good foot, but you have to see him against opponents who give you problems. There was a phase in which he made a mistake and we should have scored”, said MM, according to fanatik.ro.

Lisav Eissat, contested from the lawn at the debut under the “tricolor”

At the friendly with the Republic of Moldova, Eissat was not welcomed with open arms by all the spectators present at the National Arena. The tough core of the lawn displayed a message and chanted against the player born in Haifa and the principle of integration of footballers of other origin, even if we are not talking about a naturalization here.

A few minutes after the start of the second half, part of the “tricolor” lawn displayed a canvas with the following message, a play on words referring to the footballer's first name, Lisav: “They were deprived of juniors and identity / But FRF only wants diversity”.

The message painted on the canvas was accompanied by chants of the same note: “Junior centers / No players import”.
