“There is a danger of an explosion. We have evacuated 15 people, who are at the town hall at the moment. At 12 o'clock we will give them a hot meal. We have a dispensary there and everything we need. Now we are trying to evacuate the animals from the households. We have only evacuated the Plauru area,” Tudor Cernega, the mayor of Ceatalchioi commune, told HotNews.
2 kilometer perimeter
Cernega detailed that those from the IGSU have secured a perimeter of 2 kilometers and no longer allow access. The ship loaded with LPG is on the Ukrainian side, anchored at the shore, says the mayor.
If the situation will not be resolved and the danger will still remain, the evacuees will be accommodated in the town hall and with their relatives in the rest of the Ceatalchioi commune, the mayor also said.
“We have the mattresses at the town hall. Some of them have a house in Tulcea, and others will live with their relatives in Ceatalchioi”, concluded the mayor.
The representatives of ISU Tulcea told HotNews that traffic was restricted from Chilia and Tulcea.
“At the moment there are no more people in the locality. The situation is being monitored by the authorities, with a fire crew and a fire truck on the scene. The priority is the safety of the locals and the rescuers,” Cristina Profir, spokesperson for IGSU Tulcea, said in a dialogue with HotNews.
