Gigi Nețoiu, Eugen Teodorovici and Dan Trifu submitted their candidacies today for the Capital City Hall / Moment with taraf at the Electoral Bureau: “Let it be heard in all of Bucharest”

The businessman Gigi Nețoiu, the former Minister of Finance Eugen Teodorovici and the activist Dan Trifu, the vice-president of Eco-Civica, submitted their candidacies, on Sunday, for the position of general mayor of the Capital.

According to Mediafax, Gigi Nețoiu went to the Electoral Office on Sunday accompanied by a taraf. Party and patriotic songs were performed at the nomination. Nețoiu asked the musicians to be more animated and sang with them, notes the quoted source. Among those who were with Nețoiu were the soloist Gheorghe Gheorghiu, as well as the actor Cornel Palade.

Former shareholder of FC Dinamo and Craiova University, Nețoiu, sentenced in March 2014 to 3 years and 4 months in prison in the case of fraudulent transfers from the world of football, is running as an independent in the elections of December 7 for the Capital City Hall.

Nețoiu met with Eugen Teodorovici when submitting his candidacy. “Let it be heard all over Bucharest”, said Teodorovici when he saw the group of artists brought by Gigi Nețoiu.

The former PSD Minister of Finance Eugen Teodorovici also submitted his candidacy for the position of mayor of the Capital.

“Today I submitted my candidacy for the position of general mayor of the Capital, a thing and a decision, let's say, important for me. First of all, I want to thank everyone who helped me collect these signatures, a warm-hearted team and more, beyond the signatures, the vibe I received on the occasion of each signature is important.

That's what I was actually trying to get the people of Bucharest to feel because a lot was said and the fact that they signed and the way they did it told me that the truth is different and we'll see on December 7 at the vote”, claimed Eugen Teodorovici when submitting his candidacy, quoted by News.ro.

Dan Trifu, the vice president of the Eco-Civica foundation, also entered the race

And Dan Trifu, the vice-president of the Eco-Civica foundation, submitted his candidacy for the Capital City Hall on Sunday.

“Today I submitted my candidacy (…) for you, Bucharesters, for a city where we can breathe, where we can move easily, where we can live with dignity. Here for the people, now for Bucharest,” Trifu said in a video message published on Facebook.

Dan Trifu has been active since 1998 within the Eco-Civic Foundation, an NGO dedicated to protecting the environment, historical heritage and human rights, fighting against urban and architectural abuses.

The Ecocivica Association was among the first NGOs to defend Bucharest's green spaces from real estate developers, along with the Save Bucharest Association.

The last day to submit candidacies for the Capital City Hall elections is Monday, November 17.

So far, they have submitted their candidacies for the December 7 elections in Bucharest and:

  • Cătălin Drula (USR)
  • Virgil Alexandru Zidaru (independent)
  • Ciprian Ciucu (PNL)
  • Anca Nicoleta Alexandrescu (Electoral Alliance “Justice for Bucharest”)
  • Daniel Baluta (PSD)
  • George Valentin Burcea (POT)

What the latest polls show

The PSD mayor of District 4, Daniel Băluță, is in first place in the race for the Capital City Hall, credited with 27%, according to the latest CURS survey, published on Saturday. Cătălin Drula (USR) and Ciprian Ciucu (PNL) follow, tied, with 22% each, compared to the 18% they were credited with less than a month ago by the same polling house.

Anca Alexandrescu is credited with 15%, gaining five percent compared to a month ago, when the previous CURS survey was done.

Next, at a distance of 10 percent, is Virgil Alexandru Zidaru (Makaveli), the influencer who campaigned for Călin Georgescu on TikTok in 2024.

The survey published by Avangarde on November 12, for the City Hall of the Capital, shows that Daniel Băluță, from the PSD, ranks first (24%).

He is followed by Ciprian Ciucu, PNL (21%), then Cătălin Drula, USR (20%) and Anca Alexandrescu, independent but supported by AUR (17%).

Then, at a great distance, independent Vlad Gheorghe appears in the Avangarde poll with 5%, Ana Ciceală (SENS) – 4%, independent Virgil Alexandru Zidaru – 4% and Liviu Negoiță (PUSL) – 3%.
