On Saturday after At 11 a.m. the PSL congress began in Warsaw and elected new party authorities. The only candidate for president was Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Piotr Zgorzelski and Waldemar Pawlak fought for the position of head of the Supreme Council.
Kosiniak-Kamysz spoke before the vote. He devoted a significant part of his speech to electoral strategies.
– We know why we are in politics, we can say “we disagree”, that's why we are preparing to run in the next elections as the Polish People's Party – said Kosiniak-Kamysz at the congress, causing a storm of applause. – The festival starts today and it will say otherwise, that you won't be on the common list… We're not afraid of it, we persevered, we've been through it, put it on repeat and let's rewind the tape, he added.

He announced that at the same time, PSL will look for friends in the elections, because “going alone does not mean going alone.” — We will invite friends to our lists, those we have been with for years, he said.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also regretted that in the presidential elections it was not possible to field a common candidate for the entire coalition, which was proposed by PSL.
PSL does not want two-term terms for local governments
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that “the idea of self-government has been in the DNA of PSL since the times of the mayor from Wierzchosławice”.
— On her behalf, we demand a change to the unconstitutional law regarding term limits for municipal administrators. It is unconstitutional, dangerous, harmful to Poland and denies the right to decide about the community itself – emphasized Kosiniak-Kamysz.
— If this bill is not approved, we will propose changes to the constitution. If we want to limit it for everyone, MPs and senators should start with themselves. I will sign this bill, he added.

The highest authority of the PSL
The Congress is the highest authority in the PSL. It is convened once every four years by the General Council. His competences include, among others: election of the president of the Party and chairman of the Supreme Council, acceptance of members of the Main Audit Committee and members of the Main Peer Court, as well as adoption of changes to the program and the Statute of the Party.
