The mother of the crisis that we have in the country today, and from which we absolutely must overcome, is what is happening in public finances, said PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński on Saturday at a meeting with the residents of Kwidzyn. He warned that this crisis would impact economic and social life.

Due to the ongoing work on the new PiS program, the “Polish Time. Poles' Program” campaign began on Saturday, under which the leaders of Law and Justice will meet with Poles in various regions of the country. The first meeting took place in Kwidzyn in the province. Pomeranian.
PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński said that “the mother of the crisis that we have in the country today, and from which we absolutely must overcome, is what is happening in public finances.” As he declared, “we have proven that they can be healed.” As an example, he pointed to the government of Zyta Gilowska, who in 2006 was appointed at the request of Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński as Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister.
– It led Poland out of a financial crisis, not like today, but one that forced us to take European and EU warnings seriously that we were entering an excessive debt procedure that greatly limits countries' ability to spend money – said the PiS president.
He warned that the effects of this could be observed over time in economic life, and through economic life – also in social life.
According to the forecasts of the Monetary Policy Council, the debt to GDP ratio is to increase from approx. 59.8%. in 2025 to 65.4 percent in 2026.
– When we left power, we had 49.6 percent, which is a difference of almost 16 percent in terms of the level in relation to GDP – said Kaczyński. He also pointed out that when PiS began to govern, this amount was over 51%.
The PiS president, referring to the situation in health care, emphasized that most local government hospitals are currently at risk. – There are hospitals where even the first quarter has not been paid yet. There are many who did not pay for the second and third. Someone even said, but it was not a random person, that the National Fund had simply gone bankrupt. This is a pathology, but this pathology is much deeper and broader (…). We are determined to make it clear that this needs to change, said Jarosław Kaczyński.
According to the PiS president, Europe needs constant, institutionalized cooperation between countries. – It has brought a lot, both economically and in other areas. But this cannot be the building of a new empire, it cannot be the building of a new German empire, he said.
He also emphasized that Poland must be an oasis of freedom, and in his opinion “there are already places where this freedom does not exist.” – For example, universities, colleges. We too, ladies and gentlemen, must restore this freedom there. Right now, we want to launch a controversial offensive at universities. Talk to us. We will present our arguments to you and you say we are wrong, said the PiS president.
As part of the “Polish Time. Poles' Program” initiative, Jarosław Kaczyński will also visit Elbląg on Saturday. (PAP)
