In the material devoted to the celebration of Polish Independence Day, journalists from the Norwegian public television NRK described the annual march that passed through the streets of Warsaw as “Nazi marches”. In a statement provided to PAP on Friday evening, the station admitted its mistake and apologized.

The term “Nazi marches”, describing the Independence March, was included in the journalistic program broadcast on Wednesday morning in a text displayed together with the video material.
When asked about the circumstances and reasons for such a description of the Independence Day march, Ole Eivind Henden, NRK's information chief, admitted that his editorial team had made a mistake.
“The term used is not NRK's assessment of what this march was. Both of our nations were under Nazi occupation. It is easy to understand what feelings such an expression evokes. The term 'Nazi marches' was unjustified and NRK apologizes for its use,” Henden told PAP in response.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Oslo asked the Norwegian broadcaster to correct the term used. NRK has not yet responded to this request.
