The opposition mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, was detained on suspicion of corruption. The authorities banned any events in the city until March 23 and limited access to social networks.

Imamoglu and about 100 other people are suspected of bribery, fraud and bribery, as well as illegal tenders in municipalities.
