The Sejm is waiting for a new speaker. Hołownia hands over the duties to Czarzasty


Hołownia emphasized that his priority as marshal was to ensure the stability of the state, regardless of political colors. “Not this or that coalition, not this or that political party. The state is more than a political party.” – he said during his last appearance in this role.

“Not an easy process, but the obligation must be fulfilled”
The leader of Poland 2050 emphasized that he wanted to transfer the duties to his successor as smoothly as possible, because – as he said – it was a fulfillment of the coalition obligation. “Not because it's an easy process for me, because you know me, I'm honest and it's not an easy process. But because we committed to it. This is what it should look like – if we commit to something, we fulfill it.” – he emphasized.
Hołownia added that he would do everything to ensure that his successor assumed the duties of marshal as efficiently as possible. “Poland needs stability” – he pointed out.

Schedule for the transfer of functions and the election of a new marshal
According to the plan presented by Hołownia, on Tuesday at 8.30 Włodzimierz Czarzasty will convene a meeting of the Presidium of the Sejm, during which the deadline for submitting candidates for the position of Marshal will be set. This deadline will expire at time. 10.30.
Then o time. 9.00 A meeting of the Seniors' Convention will be held to supplement the agenda with an item regarding the election of the marshal. At 11.00 the Sejm session is scheduled to begin, ao 11/05 – presentation of candidatesfollowed by a discussion and vote, scheduled for approximately 11.45.
If the procedure goes according to plan, the new marshal will be elected on the same dayand approx time. 13 The Sejm will elect new deputy speakers. — “If Marshal Czarzasty becomes marshal, there will be two vacancies in the positions of deputy marshals. Therefore, it will be possible to submit two candidacies” – explained Hołownia.

Balance of term and unfinished reforms
During his speech, Hołownia also summarized his term of office. He mentioned, among others: inviting parliamentary groups to Senior Conventions, opening the Sejm to visitors and introduction of public consultations on draft laws. — “I am proud that I allowed the opposition to speak. This is one of the basic rights of democracy.” – he said.
At the same time, he admitted that not all issues had been resolved, including: rules for settling the so-called mileage and procedures for breathalyzer testing of MPs suspected of being under the influence of alcohol during deliberations.
“We were building, cementing and repairing the foundations of this institution of the Polish state. Regardless of who will be the marshal, the state must act because it is the state of all of us.” – Hołownia summed up.
