Among the people who got into the Duma for money was former MP Ashot Yegiazaryan. In the second half of the 1990s, together with his brother Suren and a former official of the General Prosecutor's Office of Crimea, Geri Hapsyrokov, they organized a vacation for Prosecutor General Yuri Skuratov, and at the same time collected compromising materials for him. In 1999, Skuratov's video with prostitutes was made public by the FSB, then headed by Vladimir Putin.

At the same time, Yegiazaryan bought a seat in the Duma from the LDPR, thanks to which he postponed the criminal proceedings. It was only in the fall of 2010 that a fraud case was opened against him and his parliamentary immunity was revoked, but Yegiazaryan managed to escape to the USA.

Members of the Tambov criminal group, Mikhail Glushchenko, Mikhail Monastyrski and Vyacheslav Shevchenko, as well as Denis Volchek, from the St. Petersburg group, also got into the State Duma through the LDPR. An entrepreneur from Yury Naps, who was expelled from the Duma in April 2025 for absenteeism, got into the current parliament for a bribe. He is currently hiding abroad from being accused of raping his assistant. The General Prosecutor's Office also confiscated his assets worth 1.2 billion rubles (PLN 60 million) for corruption.

The current Duma also includes a representative of the criminal dynasty. The deputy's uncle Jamaladin Gasanova is an experienced mafia leader from Dagestan, Said Amirov, known under the nickname Bloody Roosevelt. Amirov was a state official (regional deputy prime minister and mayor of the capital of Dagestan) and a deputy for 24 years, although his achievements also include an attempt to shoot down a Moscow-Makhachkala passenger plane with a mafia rival on board.

In 2015, Amirov was sentenced to life imprisonment. His nephew, MP Gasanov, was also suspected of crimes, but he has been a member of the Duma since 2007 and enjoys immunity.
