PSD President Sorin Grindeanu stated, in an interview for Pro TV, that his relationship with Ilie Bolojan can be improved by the contribution of both, he affirming that it is not a relationship in which one is an angel and the other a demon. On the other hand, Grindeanu stated what is the social democrats' condition for supporting PSD's 3rd package of measures.
Sorin Grindeanu believes that adversarial discussions within the coalition are, “up to a certain point”, a normality.
“No one expects us to have unanimity, to applaud like in North Korea in this coalition. I think that the role of the PSD, as well as the PNL and the USR if you like, when they have good proposals to support them, to say where it is wrong, but to say it in a reasoned way. I think this is a correct approach”, said the leader of the social democrats.
Regarding his relationship with Ilie Bolojan, Grindeanu characterized it as a “working” one, which involves telephone conversations or meetings over coffee or even at a meal together. Asked if it could be better than that, he replied: “Obviously.” “I think we can both contribute to improving the relationship. It's not a matter of someone being an angel and the other a demon. There's room for improvement in both of them,” continued the president of the Chamber of Deputies.
Sorin Grindeanu pleads for the merging of the communes: “There are a few hundred with less than 500 inhabitants. It's not right”
He said he saw no reason why the current coalition should not work until the end of this legislature and ruled out the possibility of an alliance between PSD and AUR. “It doesn't exist today, when we speak, and I don't see any situation in the near future, or even in the medium term, in which the PSD will make a majority with the AUR”, said Sorin Grindeanu.
He mentioned that, within the coalition, the social democrats will support the adoption, simultaneously with the 3rd package of measures expected by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, of economic recovery measures.
“We risk entering an area of economic recession, and I don't think anyone wants that, whether in power or in the opposition. That's why we came up with a package of proposals that we gave about a month and a half ago to the coalition partners. We waited for them to come with proposals, we're still waiting. Let the PNL come, let the USR come with proposals, because it's not us, to PSD, the holders of the truth, improve that package (…)
If there is still a desire to bring a package to the Parliament, i.e. package 3, as we have had two so far, in this package there must also be a part, beyond the local administration… I think it will be, because otherwise there cannot be a package 3″, concluded Sorin Grindeanu.
