The Americans called on the government to finance UZ passenger transportation from the state budget.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (ACC) has called on the government to cancel cross-subsidization of rail transportation and ensure state financing of the UZ passenger segment as early as 2026.
According to the Chamber's estimates, passenger transportation losses in 2025 will exceed UAH 22 billion. Transferring them to business through an increase in freight rates is economically unjustified and contrary to European practice.
ACC proposes to provide UAH 21 billion in annual subvention in the state budget to compensate for these losses. According to the business, such a step will help to form a balanced tariff policy and avoid another blow to the real sector of the economy.
