Mihai Rotaru, the shareholder from Craiova University, declared against it the amendment of the Statute of the Professional Football League. Gino Iorgulescu, the president of the LPF, wants to remove the limited number of mandates, among others.
On November 13, in Brașov, at the Aurelius Emperor of the Romans hotel, a General Assembly of the League will take place. Gino Iorgulescu will propose amending the Statute, so that he can also run in 2027, when his current mandate expires.
At the moment, the regulation says that a president can only have two mandates of 5 years at the head of the LPF. Iorgulescu was elected in 2013 and, in theory, would have been in his third term now. He reasoned that the change to a maximum of two mandates occurred in 2014, while he was in office, so he could run twice later, in 2017 and 2022.
In addition, Iorgulescu wants to add to the statute that a person can run for the presidency of the LPF only if in the last 5 years he has been in the leadership of the same club or structure of the FRF/LPF type.
Mihai Rotaru: “They offended my intelligence”
As GSP first announced, The University of Craiova does not agree with the desired Statute changes to the League. And Mihai Rotaru reacted harshly to the LPF address.
“When I read the items on the agenda, I felt offended. They offended my intelligence. We don't agree with 80 percent of what's on the agenda. My intelligence said something like, 'Well, that's not right.'
Those are conditions to carry forward the only leader. We do not align ourselves with party politics. Unfortunately, fortunately, I had other priorities in the last few days, I don't know exactly how the others are positioned. I said clearly, we are voting against it.
We are 100% against it. There are maybe 2-3 points with which we agree, but they are not related to the elections”, said Mihai Rotaru, on Prima Sport 1.
Dinamo was the first club to stand against the changes proposed by the League, as reported exclusively by Gazeta Sporturilor. And Rapid, Farul and FC Botoșani are on the list of clubs in opposition.
