The Italian press claims that Inter, the team coached by Cristi Chivu, has reached an agreement with Ivan Provedel (32 years old), the Lazio goalkeeper.
It's no secret that Inter are looking for a new goalkeeper, with 37-year-old Yann Sommer's contract expiring at the end of this month.
There has been speculation that the Nerazzurri wanted to bring in a new starter in goal this transfer window, with the name of Guglielmo Vicario, the goalkeeper of Tottenham and the Italian national team, being heavily circulated.
However, it seems that the Milanese prefer to promote Josep Martinez as a starter and bring in a new backup goalkeeper.
Inter Milan have agreed with Ivan Provedel
For this reason, Provedel is an attractive option. He will enter the final year of his contract at the Stadio Olimpico this summer and is considered a relatively cheap option, although he has vast experience in Serie A and has won the league's best goalkeeper in the past.
Provedel's agent was seen at Inter's club headquarters on Wednesday and now, according to Football Italia, the Nerazzurri have an agreement in principle on personal terms.
The same source claims that Inter and Provedel's agent have agreed a three-year contract with an estimated salary of less than €1.5m per season.
Ivan Provedel, right
The next step for Inter is to agree with Lazio on the transfer fee. The team from Rome wants to get 5 million euros in exchange for the owner of the boot, while the offer made by Chivu revolves around 3 million euros.
Provedel defended Lazio's goal in 29 games in the recently concluded season. He conceded 30 goals and escaped 12 times without conceding a goal. He was coming to Lazio in 2022, when he was brought from Spezia.
