Scientists from the SFU found in the Museum of the Krasnoyarsk Territory artifacts from Genghis Khan.

The university said that scientists of the Humanitarian Institute worked with the collections of the Yenisei Museum-Reserve named after Kytmanov. They found in the storerooms the arrowheads, which have been stored there since the 60s of the XX century and were not put into scientific circulation. Artifacts were found by accident during the construction near the Yenisei during the work of the bulldozer.

“The wide flat tips of the arrows (cuts) of the Mongol time and long armor -piercing arrows with spikes, characteristic of Taga the population of the region. On most things there are traces of scale, which indicates that things were extracted from the destroyed burial, where the ashes of a cremated person were buried, ”the press service of the university explained.

Judging by artifacts, the burial belongs to the late stage of the forestry culture and can be dated to the XIII – XIV centuries – this is the era of the elevation of the Mongol Empire.

“For the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the find is very rare,” said Ksenia Biryuleva, senior researcher at the Yenisei Siberian Yenisei Siberia laboratory of the Yenisei Siberia.

Now the artifacts are digitized. Information about them is posted in the public domain – on the digital platform “Siberian”. This will open access to unique artifacts to all visitors to the site, and archaeologists and researchers will have the opportunity to study them and draw scientific conclusions.
