Sergei Shoigu discussed the creation of a metal processing cluster in Krasnoyarsk (video)

On November 6, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu visited Krasnoyarsk on a working visit, during which he held a meeting with the scientific community on the creation of a cluster for the deep processing of non-ferrous, rare and rare earth metals in the Angara-Yenisei region.

At the meeting, the cluster development strategy was discussed, part enterprises of the region and our research centers in creating infrastructure for metal processing, additive technologies, energy storage systems, artificial intelligence, transport and energy support, subsoil use and environmental aspects of the project.

Sergei Shoigu noted that the cluster will unite dozens of enterprises, scientific institutes and universities in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Irkutsk Region, and the Republics of Khakassia and Tyva. This will make it possible to implement the “science next to production” model: universities, academic institutes and technology parks will work in a single system.

“The cluster of deep processing of non-ferrous, rare and rare earth metals in the Angara-Yenisei region will create a new intellectual environment where ideas are transformed into technologies, and technologies into products in demand in the country’s economy and in the defense sector. Today we are building what can be called a unified system of “science – education – industry”. This is not a slogan, but a practical model, where the university becomes a production laboratory, and the plant becomes a research platform,” he emphasized.

The delegation led by Sergei Shoigu also inspected the sites for the formation of an innovative scientific and technological center of the cluster on the basis of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov noted that the creation of a new cluster is the region’s strategic contribution to achieving the country’s technological sovereignty: “The Krasnoyarsk Territory has a serious foundation for this: a scientific base, competencies in the space industry and nuclear industry, and most importantly, close cooperation between universities, scientific institutes and enterprises. I am confident that solutions for deep processing of ore raw materials, extraction of rare and rare earth metals, and creation of additive technologies will find fertile soil here. By combining the efforts of the federal center, regions, municipalities and business, projects will be brought to industrial production in the very center of the country.”

As a result of the meeting, a Roadmap for the implementation of cooperation with the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was signed.

The document recorded the main directions and parameters of interaction for the creation of a cluster of deep processing of non-ferrous, rare and rare earth metals in the Angara-Yenisei region – activities, deadlines, expected results and responsible executors.
