The group, made up of Moldovan and foreign citizens, would have operated in a coordinated manner, with each member having clear duties. Three of the traffickers were identified as being responsible for facilitating the illegal passage of people from the Republic of Moldova to Romania, seeking to obtain a financial profit.

The victims claim that they would have paid sums of money both in their country of origin and in the territory of the Republic of Moldova in order to cross the border illegally.

The law enforcement officers searched the suspects' homes, seizing three means of transport, money, electronic devices and other items of interest used in the criminal activity.

The suspects were detained for 72 hours, and later the court applied the preventive measure of judicial control to them for 60 days.

The investigations, which began in September, continue to identify all the members of the group and to establish the full range of illegal activities carried out.
