Ukraine restricts train traffic. “To protect life”

“Together with Ukrzaliznytsia, we have made a difficult but important decision to protect human life – we are temporarily limiting the movement of trains towards Kramatorsk to the borders of the Kharkiv Oblast. This decision was made for security reasons, therefore passengers of all five long-distance trains towards Kramatorsk will receive detailed information about the terminal station in the Ukrzaliznytsia application directly on the day of departure,” Filashkin wrote on Telegram.

The Donetsk Regional Military Administration is currently organizing buses to run between Kramatorsk and Slovyansk with a temporary terminus. Temporary restrictions also apply to the movement of suburban trains in the Donetsk region, in particular the Bantysheve – Kramatorsk and Slovyansk – Rajhorodok connections.
The Telegram Ukrzaliznyci messenger reported that train conductors and station employees will help passengers orient themselves on site and accompany them during transfers. “Passenger safety is our main priority. We are closely monitoring the situation and will restore traffic as soon as possible,” it was noted.
Intense fighting near Pokrovsk
On Friday, the Russians carried out an attack on railway infrastructure in the Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts, in the latter the Russian target was a passenger train depot.
Kramatorsk serves as one of the main administrative centers in the Donetsk Oblast – the city is close to the front line, which makes it a strategic point for logistics and defense of the region. The city is located about 82 kilometers from Pokrovsk, which has been the hottest section of the front over the past month.
On Wednesday, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army reported ongoing intense fighting around Pokrovsk, where the Russian army is trying to encircle defending Ukrainian units. According to the Ukrainian side, the city was not encircled.
As reported by the DeepState analytical project in the Telegram messenger, Russian forces are strengthening their positions in Pokrovsk. In some districts they are able to concentrate forces and create stable logistics routes. Fights with small groups of Russian soldiers are taking place throughout the city.
