Jaqueline Cristian (27 years old) ended the 2025 season on the best position of her career, 39, she being the highest ranked Romanian player in the world hierarchy, followed by Sorana Cîrstea, on 44.
The brightest year yet has come to an end for Jaqueline Cristianwho is coming off a medical issue — surgery to correct a deviated septum — before thinking about preparing for the 2026 season.
On October 27, he reached a career-best 39th place, which he is also in this week's ranking. Premier results, more consistency and superior presence in Grand Slam tournaments all helped her get there.
Jaqueline wanted to mark the season finale with a message posted on social media describing exactly what it was like for her.
“2025 – what a season. The best yet with the best leaderboard and all the thrills packed into one crazy ride. Higher highs, better lows, lessons learned and memories I will never forget. Grateful to my team for the laughs that balanced out the hard work and for every challenge that made me stronger. The best version of me yet, built with the best team by my side. End this season with a full heart (and maybe a few sore muscles) – see you soon, 2026“.

This week, two other Romanians are in the world Top 100: Sorana Cîrstea on the 44th and Gabriela Ruse on the 99th. Irina Beguwho has not played since July, after winning the title in Iași, is on 124, and Anca Todoni on 144, a drop of 23 positions, as she ended the year early and underwent surgery on her right shoulder.
The women's world circuit has no more scheduled tournaments in the remaining time until the end of 2025, with the WTA Finals. However, there will still be challenger contests, category WTA 125, up to and including the week of December 8-14, when the last one will take place, in Angers, on hard indoor.
That indicates a very likely retention of it Jaqueline Cristian in the current position or close to it until the first competitions of the next season.
