German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who has taken over his position on May 6, will have his first meeting with Donald Trump, who will receive him at the White House, said German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius, according to AFP and DPA, quoted by Agerpres.

A meeting are scheduled between the two leaders at the White House, a common lunch and a later press event, said Stefan Kornelius.

This meeting will take place on the occasion of Merz's first official displacement to the US, next week, against the backdrop of Ukraine and the commercial war triggered by Donald Trump, which has imposed or threatened to impose a number of customs tariffs to its partners.

The two leaders will address the issue of trade, the situation in the Middle East and the Russia's Aggression War against Ukraine, as well as the relations between the two countries, the spokesman announced.

Merz and Trump have already had several phone calls.

Due to the importance of exports for its economy, Germany is worried about the repercussions of the commercial war launched by Washington.
The first European economy has been through several years of recession and is de facto in stagnation in 2018.

Germany is also the largest military aid provider for Kiev, after the US.

The German Chancellor hired Kiev on Wednesday to produce, both in Ukraine and Germany, long -range rockets, to allow you to hit the Russian territory in depth.
