Fiorentina have decided to part ways with coach Stefano Pioli. After the failure against Lecce, the team reached the penultimate place in Serie A.

For the Viola band, the loss to Lecce was their second in a row and sixth overall in Serie A, where they have collected 4 points from as many draws. With such a record, coach Stefano Pioli has no argument to stay on the bench.

Fiorentina is working on the terms of the contract termination with Stefano Pioli

He did not resign, but, according to Sport Mediaset, the club management decided to release him from his position and the terms of the termination of the contract are being worked on. The supporters, in turn, expressed their opinion already during the match, when they shouted to the Italian technician to leave the bench!

The protests that started during the match continued outside the stadium. Smoke bombs were lit and drums were heard, and anti-terror police vans were deployed in front of the entrance to the main stand. Already in the night from Friday to Saturday, placards against the team, the coach and the club, bearing the logo “Fiesole Whore”, had appeared all over the city.

An internal solution is also being considered for Pioli's succession, Primavera coach Daniele Galloppa, but the favorite is Paolo Vanoli, particularly popular in the club. Also on the leadership list is Daniele De Rossi. Vanoli and De Rossi are also in talks at Genoa to replace Patrick Vieira.

Stefano Pioli returned this summer to Fiorentina, the club he previously coached between 2017 and 2019 and where he played between 1989 and 1995, signing a contract until 2028 that guaranteed him a salary of €3.5 million per season.

While waiting for the new coach, the team remained in training at “Viola Park” until Wednesday, when they will leave for Germany for the Conference League match against Mainz 05 on Thursday.
