The mining and chemical plant (Rosatom State Corporation enterprise, Environmental Solutions division) held an in-person presentation of the environmental safety report for 2024 in Zheleznogorsk.

About 30 experts in the field of ecology, representatives of public organizations of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and government authorities got acquainted with the results of the production and environmental activities of the enterprise. As part of the presentation of the report, the plant organized a trip for guests to the site of the new Experimental Demonstration Center complex within the enterprise, which was launched three months ago and is working on industrial solutions for reprocessing irradiated nuclear fuel. The presentation itself took place in the corporate museum of the Mining and Chemical Combine in the format of an open dialogue, which has already become a tradition.

I. o. Vyacheslav Dudukin, chief engineer of the mining and chemical complex, greeted and thanked the guests for their attention to the activities of the plant. Understanding all the responsibility, the management of the enterprise puts the tasks of ensuring nuclear, radiation and all other types of safety as a priority. “We are open to society,” emphasized Vyacheslav Dudukin.

The report was presented by the head of the environmental department of the MCC, Alexey Shishlov.

“In 2024, the Mining and Chemical Plant operated as normal, in compliance with all environmental standards. The enterprise carried out planned work to ensure the safe handling of spent fuel from the country's nuclear power plants, as well as preparing production facilities for its processing in order to isolate and reuse valuable components. Tasks were carried out to bring nuclear heritage sites into a safe state. In particular, the planned stages of work on the decommissioning of the RW storage pool No. 365 and the shutdown ADE-2 nuclear reactor were completed,” said Alexey Shishlov.

“We are glad that they invite us, show us the production and answer questions. Not every business entity agrees to such openness,” Dmitry Zlobin, chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Rational Natural Resources Management of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, summed up the results of the meeting. — Technical tours allow you to see the object in reality, and not as part of desk discussions, and communicate directly with specialists. The Public Council has a lot of off-site events, and it is at these events that the largest number of proposals and constructive discussions are generated. We expect that based on the results of this presentation, a protocol with recorded proposals will be formed. We are committed to further constructive dialogue: these could be new formats or on-site events, including on radioecological monitoring.”
