The mayor of Sector 6, Ciprian Ciucu, defends Oana Gheorghiu, co-founder of the Association Gives Life, nominated by Ilie Bolojan for the position of deputy prime minister, after Sorin Grindeanu asked the prime minister to withdraw the proposal.

Oana Gheorghiu had criticized the current US administration on social networks, and Grindeanu claimed that by possibly appointing her as deputy prime minister “we risk compromising the relationship with the United States of America”.

Ciprian Ciucu, the PNL candidate for the Capital City Hall, reacted to Grindeanu's statements.

“How can you treat a man who has done so much good in this way?! How can you attack a lady who built in Bucharest, from people's donations, a brand new hospital for children with cancer? What have you done in your life so important that you attack politically in this direction? How can you believe that after such an attack, people will remain impassive?”, wrote Ciucu, on Wednesday, in a message posted on Facebook.

“It's a code red for servitude”

The mayor of District 6 recalls that JD Vance also criticized Donald Trump “more severely” before he was elected as vice president of the USA.

“350,000 people trusted Oana Gheorghiu and Carmen Uscatu and gave money from their own pockets to build the children's hospital. Before being chosen by President Trump as vice president, Mr. JD Vance said some worse things about him. And yet, Mr. Trump forgave him and chose him with an open heart as his political partner. In this logic, are you really asking Mr. Vance to go?”, he also wrote Tassel

“It's a red code of servitude and lack of dignity that has just awakened immense anger in people”, wrote Ciprian Ciucu.

“The biggest risk to the relationship with the United States and the civilized world is the corruption doubled by the privileges you want to protect on the backs of honest investors and all Romanians”, concluded the sector mayor.

What Sorin Grindeanu wrote

Oana Gheorghiu, co-founder of the Association Gives Life, was nominated by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to occupy the vacant post of Deputy Prime Minister, vacant after the resignation of Dragoș Anastasiu. The proposal was submitted to President Nicușor Dan on Tuesday.

In a reaction on Facebook on Tuesday evening, PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu asked the prime minister to drop the proposal.

“In order to avoid compromising the relationship with the United States of America and not heading towards an irreparable diplomatic disaster in relation to our strategic partner, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan must immediately withdraw his proposal submitted to President Nicusor Dan by which he nominates Mrs. Oana Gheorghiu as Deputy Prime Minister in the Government of Romania!”, Sorin Grindeanu said.

Grindeanu claims that the Government is “already full of anti-American voices and critics of the Trump Administration”.

“Those who dream of high positions in the Romanian state must understand once and for all that every irresponsible statement thrown into the public space directly hits Romania's strategic interests! In a Government already full of anti-American voices and critics of the Trump Administration, how do such appointments help and give credibility to Romania's actions on important issues in relation to the transatlantic ally? I remind you of the Visa Waiver, a step so expected by all Romanians!”, he continued the social democrat.

He believes that Prime Minister Bolojan's approach “must be reconsidered urgently”.

“I ask the Coalition partner Ilie Bolojan to take into account the point of view of the PSD and to urgently withdraw the proposal to appoint Mrs. Gheorghiu from this position of high public dignity in the Romanian state. There are no half measures on this subject. The PSD must be consulted in such decisions!” concluded Sorin Grindeanu.

In a first reaction after Grindeanu's criticism, Oana Gheorghiu said that nothing she wrote on her personal Facebook page “in any way engages the Romanian state or the Government of Romania”.

Oana Gheorghiu also says that all her comments and posts represented “the personal opinions of a Romanian citizen, a member of civil society, who expressed himself on his social media account, in certain situations, by virtue of his right to free expression”.
